Three Lions Out
Well, that is it for the Three Lions for the Qatar World Cup 2022. After putting a valiant effort, England lost to France in the World Cup Quarterfinal last Saturday. Aurélien Tchouaméni scored a cracker of a goal to put France up 1-0. It seemed like Bukayo Saka got fouled earlier on in the play but the referee didn't call it... it ended up being very costly. Then, in the second half, Saka was fouled inside the penalty box which led to Harry Kane scoring his penalty. However, the amazing Olivier Giroud got in perfect position and scored a header later in the second half to put France up 2-1. England got another penalty with Mason Mount being fouled inside the box by Theo Hernandez. Kane, however, hit the penalty miles over the bar and that was it for England's hopes at the world cup. Kane's missed penalty will haunt the English for the next four years and we now look towards Euro 2024 in hopes our bringing a major trophy home. Many of England's players will be in their prime for the 2026 World Cup and we should hopefully make another run at the trophy. Until 2024, so long Three Lions!!
